Health CARE
KIK has formed close links with Nixon Memorial Hospital in Sgwema. In 2009 East Lancashire Healthcare Trust provided hospital beds, hospital screens, theatre lighting, oxygen concentrators and other equipment.
The hospital receives donations of life saving drugs through KIK and their contacts in the UK.
During the February 2012 trip the team visited the district hospital in Kailahun Town and installed water filters on both the paediatric and maternity wards, which now means that there will be clean drinking water available for the patients. KIK also donated a quantity of life saving drugs that were greatly received. This is the beginning of a closer working relationship with the Kailahun District Hospital.
