During our initial visit in 2006, 20 children were identified and sponsors found, since then that number has risen to 115.
This is an educational sponsorship programme which provides a school uniform, shoes, books, school fees, a feeding programme and medical care when needed for just £10 per month.
If a child shows accademic promise and wishes to go on to University in Freetown or gain a Professional Qualification such as becoming a doctor, nurse or teacher, KIK can also help. In order for them to access this programme they need to sign a contract to say that once they are qualified they will go back to serve in Kailahun for a minimum of five years. The reason for this is to help rebuild the fabric of society through the education of these young people.
